Review of Volunteering:
What did you do? I helped socialize kittens that were abondoned by their mother.
When did you do it? The friday after thanksgiving
What did you learn? I learned that kittens are n ot just naturly playful but they need to be comfortable in there surrondings before they can trust you. Sometimes kittens can have a hard time adjusting to human contact and human interaction
What are your future plans?
I plan to volunteer at the shelter agian because seeing those kittens start to come out of their shells was a great feeling and it was alot of fun.

Modes
Movie
The movie, The Whale Rider, shows a lot about whales. This movie is about a girl in New Zealand whose twin brother dies during childbirth. Her twin brother is suppose to be the next leader of the tribe. The people believe that one of their ancestors survived drowning by riding the back of a whale to shore. This shows that in many cultures whales are revered as gentle and kind creatures. The whale is a big symbol in this culture because it helps determine who the next leader is.
Book
The book, Fluke or I know why the wing whale sings is about a marine biologist who studies the sounds of humpback whales and tries to figure out why they sing. What happens next is the whale raises his fluke and the scientist sees that the whale has "bite me" written on his fluke. This could show another side of whales that has not been previously considered. This could show that whales have little to no regrade about humans and could care less about us.

Picture
The picture of these 2 whales has more to it than meets the eye. This picture shows a mother humpback whale and calf humpback whale. The mother is helping her offspring breath at the surface for perhaps the first time. This picture not only shows what the humpback whale looks like but its gentleness and compassion. This photograph is targets animal enthusiasts and people with a college degree.

The song by Pearl Jam entitled the whale song has interesting points regrading whales. The song states the reason why whales do not fight back in regrads to whaling. The song thinks that whales do not fight back because they are higher up then us. The whales do not resort to violence because of there hearts.

Summary: In this section of Vogler, he touches one how powerful words are. They can bring us happiness or sadness and change our lives forever.Also in this section he describes the story of Rumpelstiltskin and how the girl's tears acted as a wish that brought the little man to her. In this part of the book, Vogler also talks about the importance of wishing as with the girls tears and Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz wants to be someplace where she has not a care in the world.
Reflection: I agree that wishing can be very important to a story line and how emotions can even act as nonverbal wishes. I also relize the saying sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me is false. Words can hurt. and they can change your life in an instant.
